Centre for Telematics and Information Technology
Het Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT, Nederlands: Centrum voor Telematica en informatietechnologie) is een van de zes instituten van de Universiteit Twente. CTIT maakt onderdeel uit van het 3TU-samenwerkingsverband Netherlands Institute for Research on ICT (NIRICT). Het is een van de grootste ICT-instituten van Europa en heeft meer dan 475 onderzoekers. Het butget voor 2008 was 28 miljoen euro.
Missie[bewerken]
De missie van het instituut is:
"To be an internationally acknowledged scientific research institute in the area of design and application of advanced telematics and information technology systems, and their integration into user environments."
Een belangrijk onderdeel van de missie is, net als bij andere delen van de UT, het combineren van de techniek en de menselijke aspecten. Dit is onder andere te zien aan de deelnemende faculteiten en onderzoeksgroepen en het brede spectrum waaruit de onderzoekers komen, van primair technisch onderzoek tot en met toepassingsgericht onderzoek.
Samenwerking[bewerken]
Het instituut onderhoudt een groot aantal internationaal samenwerkingsnetwerk met onder andere ICT-bedrijven, universiteit, onderzoeksinstituten, bedrijven in de gezondheidszorg en financiële sector en overheden. Hieronder zijn vele grote namen als Philips, Siemens, ASML, ING Bank, Shell, TNO en British Telecom.
